CRITERIA

Tasks

Criteria

Making preparations for operating a vehicle, checking its technical condition and moving a halted vehicle;

  • Checking the technical condition of the vehicle's main elements directly responsible for traffic safety—an examinee has to show that he or she knows how to check:

- the level of oil in the engine (an examinee must at least indicate where and by means of what instrument one checks oil level),
- the level of radiator liquid,
- the level of brake fluid,
- the level of  windscreen washer—an examinee must at least indicate the windscreen washer container, open it and confirm its proper level,
- the proper functioning of the horn,
- the proper functioning of the external lights;

  • proper adjustment of the driving seat, mirrors, headrests; fasting seatbelts (if the vehicle is equipped with seatbelts); checking if the doors are properly closed;
    - the driver should be able to see the left side of the car and the left area behind the car in the left mirror;
    - the driver should be able to see the right side of the car and the right area behind the car in the right mirror;
    - the headrests should be positioned in a close proximity behind the back of the head;
  • making sure that driving the vehicle is safe,

- eliminating the possibility of causing traffic danger,
- judging the situation and space near the vehicle;

  • start travelling in a smooth manner,

- releasing the parking break leaver,
- releasing the clutch pedal and applying the accelerator pedal in a smooth manner;

  • additional requirements for A and A1 categories:
    - checking the chain (if the vehicle has one),
    - releasing the kick-stand and moving it for 5 meters without starting the engine,
    - putting the vehicle on the kick-stand;
  • additional requirements for T, B+E, C+E, C1+E, D+E, D1+E categories:
    - checking the coupling mechanism (including breaking pipe and the jacks), the trailer parts related to loading, and the manner of securing the load,
    - coupling a trailer with the vehicle (where the vehicle is positioned next to a trailer)--the examinee is to perform it within 10 minutes;

The list of activities performed during the coupling:

-         driving the vehicle in front of the trailer,

-         reversing the vehicle towards the trailer so that coupling becomes possible,

-         adjusting the coupling hook/catch height (if adjustable),

-         coupling the trailer's catch with the vehicle's hook or catch; securing the coupling from disconnecting,

-         connecting the trailer's jacks (having ceased the vehicle's engine), braking pipes to the vehicle; checking the proper functioning of the trailer's lights; releasing the parking break if the trailer has it;

  • additional for D, D+E, D1, D1+E categories: checking the vehicle's body, doors, emergency exits, and the required equipment;

Travelling forward and backward along a lane.

  • the vehicle in its initial positioning;
  • B, B1, C, C1, D1 categories—smooth driving forward and backward (in case of B and B1 categories, driving in reverse gear requires a proper observation of the vehicles track in accordance with the driving techniques of looking back through the rear window and the mirrors);
  • T, B+E, C+E, C1+E, D, D+E, D1+E categories:
    - smooth driving forward along a lane,
    - reversing in a straight line and through a curve, with the possibility to stop the vehicle and resume driving, within the time of 5 minutes;
  • driving clear of lines and curbs, cones, poles restricting the lane (with the exception of all the internal lines restricting and designating the area where the vehicle is to park);
  • stopping the vehicle in front of the lane ending line and lane beginning line:
    - in case of B and B1 categories, stopping the vehicle within a designated area,
    - in case of all the remaining categories, stopping the vehicle in front of the lane ending line within a distance of 1 meter;

Angle parking (forward parking–reverse exiting),
Perpendicular parking  (reverse parking—forward exiting or forward parking –reverse exiting)

  • the vehicle in its initial positioning;
  • proper signalling of the intention of changing direction;
  • during the performance of the task:
    - the examinee is allowed for one track correction,
    - the vehicle may only move within the designated area, clear of the restricting lines, cones and poles;
  • the vehicle positioned within the designated area;

Parallel parking (reverse parking—reverse exiting)

  • the vehicle in its initial positioning;
  • proper signalling of the intention of changing direction;
  • during the performance of the task:
    - the examinee is allowed for one track correction,

- the vehicle may only move within the designated area, clear of the restricting lines, curbs, cones, and poles;

  • the vehicle positioned within the designated area;

Turning to face the opposite direction

  • proper signalling of the intention of changing direction;
  • the technique and rules of turning to face the opposite direction:
    - the examinee is allowed to make no more than 3 turns,
    - travelling clear of curbs; it is allowed to reach or touch a curb, unlike running into or over it;

Starting moving a halted vehicle uphill

  • the vehicle may not move backward more than 0.2 m and the engine may not cease during the performance of this task;
  • the task requires the examinee to stop the vehicle on the slope, apply the parking break, and then start travelling uphill while releasing the parking break;

Slalom (travelling around an 8-shaped slalom and between 5 cones)

  • travelling five times around an 8-shaped track and then travelling two times between 5 cones without leg support, running over lines or hitting cones,
  • making sure that turning is possible;
